Lebanon

Lebanon's topography is characterized by a series of parallel, longitudinal regions running north to south. Along the western edge, a narrow coastal plain stretches the length of the country, widest near Tripoli at approximately 6.5 kilometers, and narrowing to about 1.5 kilometers near Juniyah. This plain rises sharply into the Lebanon Mountains, a rugged range that includes Qurnat as Sawda', the country's highest peak at 3,088 meters. East of this range lies the fertile Beqaa Valley, averaging 9.6 to 16 kilometers in width and serving as a major agricultural hub. Beyond the valley, the Anti-Lebanon Mountains form the easternmost topographical feature, with elevations reaching up to 2,814 meters at Mount Hermon. This diverse terrain, encompassing coastal plains, steep mountains, and fertile valleys, has significantly influenced Lebanon's climate, agriculture, and settlement patterns.
